REVISITING US -IRAN NUCLEAR DEAL AFTER LAPSE OF A YEAR

The nuclear deal has concord on 14 July, 2015 in Vienna, Austria. The JCPOA between P5 + 1 and Tehran has done more harm than good. Obama has challenged global security and Washington’s legacy to support and release sanction. Tehran’s actions have tailored against state-sponsored terrorism. Obama has belief; Iran will delimit nuclear capabilities as well as bring moderation in terrorism across the region, after finalization of the deal.

Notwithstanding, it seems as simple trade deal. Where, limitation of nuclear capabilities will barter for release of economic sanctions for economic robust. whilst, Tehran will get support of West at the diplomatic front. On the flip, Iran has accepted detachment from nuclear-capable Ballistic Missile. However, in the SC Resolution 2231 -only nuclear Ballistic Missile technology is part of Iran’s Nuclear Deal. This leaves the rooms about capabilities of small, middle or large missile testing, thus this loophole swept under the carpet.

Obama’s administration nor the Khomeni’s have to bear the burden for the violation of deals, as Security Council (SC) Resolution has marred the deal with obscure language. Where, they have mentioned explicitly on the limit of Ballistic Missile, other than this, other kinds of material can be advantageous for the sake to play with words. Therefore, they themselves caught into fire due to words; this was reaffirmed by the critics. Moreover, it has yet to decide, what would be the plan of actions in case of violation of the nuclear deals? US has pledged the support to Tehran for securing victory to halt proliferation of nuclear activities after the lapse of one year.

At this juncture, the frozen assets from the last 10 years would be prolific for Tehran’s to build muscle to crown as the regional leader in Arabian peninsula. These illicit financial resources have been piled up from last 10 years or so, when the first-time nuclear negotiations was started in 2006. Eventually, UN puts sanctions and started negotiations for nuclear deal.

The ‘windfall’ of economic resources has been used for military strength by sponsoring terrorism in the Middleeast. As per the US state report, Iran’s is on the top of sponsoring state terrorism. This status - quo has not been changed from 2012, then remained steadfast even in 2013 and 2014. Ultimately, it has proven worse after finanalization of the nuclear deal in July, 2015. Nevertheless, Obama’s administration does not want to eat own words for renewal of sanctions to air the failure of the historic diplomatic deal.

There are many implications confronted by the world and regional countries  due to this historic deal on the economic, nuclear and regional level. These implications have challenged the moratorium of sanctions, rather than giving the extension in 2016. Congress must retreat to slap new sanctions on Tehran for non-conformity to the implied conditions in the deal.

To account for the implications, Obama administration has failed on many facets to proof the pretext. Even after the deal, Tehran has not abated nuclear testing. Therefore, administration has failed on accountability to Tehran for nuclear violation. Whilst, it is unfair to give discriminatory status or relief to one state over other. Obama has granted Iran flexibility to test four Ballistic Missile.

According to the Foreign Policy (FP) magazine, there is neither legal binding nor any restriction on the updated measures. The progress of Iran can be accounted on the actions taken at the short span of one year. These tracked actions smell a rat for the release of sanctions after the renewal in 2016 for ten years.

Iran’s critical steps are flagship for future events. Iran has sprawl the actions of terrorism by sending smuggled arms to rebels in Yemen and Shitte militias in Iraq as well as undermine the largest minority of Iran’s Kurds. Not only this, but also Tehran has recruited thousands of Afghan mercenaries to fight in Syria. However, it openly supports for Assad to cause the greatest refugee crisis since WW II.

So far, on the economic front, it has utilized unfrozen assets to be brought $ 8 billion of Russian weapons to be the foremost state in the military might. However, on the political landscape, it has rigged parliamentary elections by disqualifying  loyal candidates with tendencies to moderation. In August, 2015, it has initiated the largest crackdown on dissidents and journalists.

On the humanitarian front, it has violated the rules and executed almost 2400 people, including women and children. However, Tehran has the proclivity for modesty standards. It speaks the volume after the more development of the police force to suppress women for violating dress norms.

The release of sanctions and its extension is a paradox and entirely depends on the US elections. The senator, Virginia and Murphy endorsed ISA-Iran Sanction Act and supported for extension. However other critics have apprehensions about Iran’s conformity or aversion on the face of diplomatic fronts.
